Project Lifesaver

Locator Systems Corporation - Project Lifesaver Project Lifesaver International is a eight year old, non-profit organization based in Chesapeake, VA. Project Lifesaver International is the world’s leading authority for the search & rescue of people with Alzheimer's and Autism.  The Project Lifesaver Program is a complete program integrating law enforcement, people with Alzheimer's and Autism, and their caregivers with training, technology and education.  The eight year old program has proven to save lives and enables law enforcement to save time, money and manpower.

The Project Lifesaver program is operating with 570 communities, in 41 states, and 1 province. In their history they have performed over 1500 searches, with a 100% success rate. Their average find time is under 30 minutes.

There are between 8,000-10,000 active users of the Project Lifesaver program.

Project Lifesaver International sells its program, consisting of equipment, training, education and administration, to police departments and sheriff offices.

The reason a law enforcement agency signs up for Project Lifesaver is to save time, money and manpower for search & rescue. Each search can cost as much as $1500 per hour and can run as much as $200,000 or more. The increasing number of searches they are required to perform because of wandering puts a lot of pressure on already tight budgets. By implementing Project Lifesaver they can significantly reduce the cost of a search by reducing the length of time a search takes. This also dramatically increases the chances of finding the person before they are injured or dead. The social benefits and the positive impact this has on a community are also highly regarded reasons for implementing the program.
